October is Black History Month! Our Students’ Union is running many wonderful events and the University Library will be celebrating with a number of events and activities throughout the month. Grains of Knowledge will be hosting a weekly series of posts about using the library to study Black history, culture, and literature. We hope that these will serve as a resource you will enjoy not just during October but throughout your studies and research with us.
The posts will come out by Friday of each week this month and will be about the following topics:
- Black Musicians and Performers in the John Johnson Collection
- Learn about how our online database of printed ephemera can shed light on the lives of black musicians and performers in nineteenth century Britain…
- Black Authors and the Early Days of Printing
- Learn about how our online databases of early printed books (Early English Books Online and Early European Books Online) can be used to gain insight into the lives and works of black authors…
- Studying Black British Poetry
- Learn about how library resources can be used to study the lives and works of black British poets…
- Black History of Lincolnshire
- Learn about resources for researching black history specific to this county…
In addition to our blog posts, we’ll also be offering a series of physical and digital displays which we hope you will enjoy.
